Boosted Wonga.co.za’s organic traffic by 121% and organic conversions by 71%, with 63% improvement in rankings. Over 50% of non-branded keywords now rank on the first page of SERPs, including #1 and #2 positions for ‘payday loan’ and ‘payday loans’.

Wonga.com was one of the most successful UK start-ups in the last decade; the first company to take payday loans online. Wonga.com operated in one of the most competitive industries in search marketing, with Google creating a unique algorithm to tackle spam and keyword manipulation in this niche. After Kurve's success with the Wonga.com domain we were handed the South African domain Wonga.co.za to improve their search results.

This project was incubated inside Kurve.co.uk, the marketing agency I founded back in 2013.

Results

Oren achieved the following results for

Objective

Dominate the number onespot on Google UK for payday loans. Expand onto additional relevant terms to increase traffic volume and maximise conversions.

Strategy

Working with relevant, authoritative domains was critical to get the rankings required. Combined with topical content, on-page optimisation it only took 6 months to start seeing growth despite being such a competitive sector.
